| Cintra Accessories |
| Cintra performance verification of UV-Visible Spectrometers |
Test kits are available for performance verification of UV-Visible Spectrometers; a certified UV-Visible Reference Kit and a Neutral Density Filter Kit.
The UV-Visible Reference Kit is traceable to standards certified by NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology). For quality assurance and traceability, the photometric and wavelength standards are supplied with a certificate and a report detailing the relevant results for the cells. Each cell is individually engraved with the identifying number of certificate. |
 |
This kit consists of seven sealed quartz cells containing solutions which can be used to check the photometric accuracy, wavelength accuracy, stray light and resolution of any UV-Visible spectrometer. It is ideal for laboratories where regular testing of instrument performance is required by regulatory bodies and in particular, pharmaceutical laboratories and laboratories accredited to ISO 9000.
Also available is the Neutral Density Filter Kit which contains three filters of nominal transmittance—10%, 20% and 30% as well as a blank holder. These filters are ideal for quality control laboratories where such standards are required for long term evaluation of the photometric accuracy of a UV-Visible spectrometer.
Both these kits offer users the confidence that their instrument is maintained at peak performance levels and ensures integrity of results. For more information contact your local GBC distributor or e-mail us. |
| Cintra sample accessories |
The Cintra sample compartment is designed to accept a wide range of modular manual and automated accessories, providing maximum flexibility to suit the wide variety of sample types and applications encountered in modern laboratories. It takes only seconds to exchange the standard cell holder with a specialised easy-to-use holder.
Automated accessories plug directly into built-in port in the sample compartment and are automatically recognised by the instrument. There is no need for expensive add-on interfaces or structural extensions. Just drop in the accessory and start analysing. |
| 1 x 1 standard holder |
| The standard sample cell holder is the 1 x 1 which holds two industry-standard 10 mm cuvettes, one each in the sample and reference beams. It may be used for analysis of single samples, in normal cuvettes. |
| Other 1 x 1 configurations include |
Micro-cell holder with fine-position controls for optimising light throughput.
Variable path length holder for rectangular cells with path lengths of 5 to 100 mm.
Cylindrical cell holder with a simple spring clip action holds cells of up to 100 mm path length.
Slide/solid sample holder accepts solid samples up to 10 mm thick. |
| Spectral software |
Spectral software, operating under Windows®, provides full instrument and accessory control, plus powerful graphics and data manipulation capabilities. It comes complete with a range of integrated applications for simple absorbance measurement, wavelength scanning, concentration, kinetics, multi-component, colour analysis, DNA melt analysis as well as GLP/GMP compliance. A fully customisable user interface allows the user to simplify routine analysis with one-click method access, standard calibrations, or formatted reports.
Powerful graphics and data manipulation
The real power of Spectral software becomes evident with the wide range of manipulations including zooming, annotation, derivative calculation, data smoothing, addition, subtraction, calculation of peak tables, determination of colour co-ordinates, determination of Tm and %GC, etc.
Quality protocols
Data integrity is assured with history functions to meet GLP requirements, including date and time stamping, plus instrument serial number, data manipulations log, method file storage and password protection.
SBasic Programming Language for Spectral UV-Visible software
Simplify routine analyses and complex data manipulation with SBasic macros. A newly published application note from GBC Scientific Equipment describes how the SBasic language is used with GBC's Spectral software to automate data acquisition and manipulation for UV-Visible analysis.
To illustrate the structure of an SBasic program and the associated commands, a macro for the determination of Chlorophyll is discussed. This Chlorophyll analysis macro automates the calculations required for Chlorophyll determinations.
A step by step description of the Chlorophyll Macro code is described. This macro can also be used as a model and modified for any other analysis. |
| Sample Changers |
Two kinds of sample changers are available, to provide speed and precision in positioning your samples for fast and accurate measurements of sample batches.
In-line (6 x 1)
The 6 x 1 or Linear Movement Module allows up to six samples to be measured in batch mode against a single reference solution. The sample changer can be fitted with a range of 6 x 1 cell holders, including standard (10 x 10 mm), variable path length, water thermostatted and peltier-effect thermocell versions. Sample selection is automated by the software.
Dual Carousel (6 x 6 or 7 x 7)
The 7 x 7 sample changer is available in standard and water thermostatted versions. All sample changers are fully computer controlled, providing random access to all positions. It takes less than one second to move between adjacent cells. Two measurement modes are available: 7 x 7 mode for measuring 7 samples against up to seven references or 12 x 2 mode for measuring up to 12 samples against one or two references. |
| Sipper & Autosampler |
| The auto sipper removes the need for cell handling. Used with a flow cell (various types available), sample introduction is reduced to a key press. It features computer-controlled pump times, and can be used with temperature controlled cells. |
 |
| For high speed automated analysis, the SDS-270 autosampler, used with a sipper, provides automated sample selection of up to 270 samples. A built-in diaphragm pump provides a continuous stream of clean rinse solution to prevent inter-sample contamination. |
| Reflectant Measurement |
 |
Measure total reflectance from solid samples such as plastics, paper, textiles and coated surfaces with the Total Integrating Sphere. The sphere provides a transmission position, making it suitable for the measurement of turbid or scattering samples. |
|
| Temperature Controlled Cell Holders |
| Water-thermostattable cell holders are available in single cell or sample changer (linear or carousel) configurations. When connected to a constant-temperature circulating water bath, these cell holders ensure constant sample temperature. |
 |
| For precise and rapid temperature control, a range of Peltier-effect thermocells is available in single cell or sample changer (linear or carousel) versions. Peltier-effect controllers are useful in applications where an accurate constant temperature or an accurate controlled temperature ramp is required. Optional sample immersion probes are available for accurate monitoring of the true sample temperature. |
